Participation fee The fee for the Academy is EUR 400.
It includes accommodation, meals and tea/coffee breaks, free access to the venue’s facilities, as well as session materials for the full event. Due to the successful grant application of the European Scout Region and the generous support from the European Parliament, a support of EUR 200 is granted to all participants, which means the fee to be actually paid is only EUR 200!
Additionally, all participants can be reimbursed for 80% of their total travel costs on a maximum basis of EUR 250. That means that if a participant declares costs of EUR 250, they will receive EUR 200 as reimbursement. If a participant declares costs of EUR 150, they will receive EUR 120. If the overall declared cost exceeds EUR 250, i.e. EUR 300, participants will be entitled to EUR 200 of reimbursement.
In today’s context, those involved in Scouting and Guiding are increasingly demonstrating their roles in societies, creating links between countries, communities and individuals. Our associations are powerful portals for exchanges and meetings, enabling and facilitating dialogue between people.
The symbolic framework of the Academy 2022 is therefore that of the portal: a portal, unlike a door or a window, is always open, it allows one to travel and reach places and people, even if the destination is not always known. This event is itself a portal which creates opportunities between our associations and members to exchange, meet, and grow together.
The location of the Academy 2022 also echoes this symbolic framework: during the period of the pandemic, the cities of Vilnius in Lithuania and Lublin in Poland took the initiative to create a virtual portal between the two cities, allowing passers-by from both cities to communicate in real time, thus abolishing geographical barriers. This “digital portal” aims to bring together people from different cultures. And that is what we are aiming for in the Academy this year: building and bringing together. The Academy is a portal for encounters.
Each year The Academy is supported by a wide variety of Scout & Guide volunteers and staff. Facilitators to photographers, communications champions to listening ears, together they make the entire experience a safe, inclusive and relevant one for all participants.
