Embracing the youth in youth organisations – implementing policies for youth involvement throughout the organisation
The scouting and guiding movement are some the biggest youth organisations in the world. Both WAGGGS and WOSM have policies for better engaging and involving youth to be key actors in the development of the organisations. However the reality in the national organisations is often that the daily operations is being done by more senior members and with the involvement of youth as a secondary priority. This session looks into the process of successfully creating and implementing a national policy for youth involvement, and explores how we equip our organisations to better embrace and adapt the needed changes for a stronger youth involvement culture
Target audience: The participants are working at national or regional level in their organisations, preferably with organisational development, youth programme and strategy. Experience in making and implementing national policies and knowledge of the world policies and standards is an advantage and will contribute greatly to the session. All participants with the interest in getting inspiration for developing youth policies for the organisation are welcome to attend.
