Social Media – A Powerful Tool

Overview

This session will look at how social media can be used as a communications tool, the breadth of potential it holds and benefits within a Guiding/Scouting context. It can be used across many levels and, following an overview and insight into the various platforms available, a focus will placed on the most popular and efficient, on content creation, engagement, and developing an action plan for social media.

Objectives

This sessions will:

  • Communicate and present the wide breadth of social media platforms
  • Look at the legalities and potential shortfalls of using social media
  • Explore what makes a good social media post
  • Give you practical experience around the tools available to help you create a good social media presence
  • Help you create stories and devise communications plans
  • Enable participants to leave with a practical action plan for their association

This session will suit:

Participants with an interest in communications and social media. Previous experience in this field will be benficial, but is not essential.
