Mental health and wellbeing
There are many misunderstandings around the mental health and wellbeing of both young people and adults. Scouting and guiding plays an important role in the emotion, social and spiritual development of all its members and its more relevant than event to empower them to talk about, identify, support and recognise the variety of mental health and wellbeing needs of themselves and others. This session aims to give confidence to participants in terms of a first line support mechanism
recognising and coping with signs of wellbeing, identify signs of poor wellbeing, describe where and when to get additional help.
At the end of the session, participants will;
- have an overview of what is meant by wellbeing and mental health
- have some understanding of the sign and symptoms of common mental health disorders and how to recognise the
- have an understanding of how to listen to young people and support them on their journey to good mental health
