Co-ordinating Youth-Led Advocacy at an Organisational Level

We know how passionate young people are to create change, they’ve chosen the focus of their project but now…
● How will it become reality?
● How can you support them to be the leaders of change?
● What skills and tools do we need in our backpacks for this adventure?

This 2-hour live session will take you through the logistics of facilitating youth-led advocacy. We will help break down the process of creating position statements and concept papers to help enhance your organisation’s advocacy toolkit, once you’ve defined your organisation’s position, we will then look at how we speak out on that issue.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to…

  • Know why MOs/NSOs/NSAs need to do advocacy and the importance of it being youth-led. Discuss challenges of wider-scale advocacy projects.
  • Describe what is typically covered in a concept paper / position statement and explain the steps taken to write these documents.
  • Explain how to speak out about a topic once an organisation’s position has been defined.
  • Give examples of best practice and current position papers used by WAGGGS and WOSM.
