Advocacy and Youth Policy

Descriptions

Do you know how to advocate for scouting and guiding interests on national and local? Do you want to know more about why external relations are essential for your NSA/NSO? Then come join us! In this session you’ll learn methods, get tools and explore ideas on how to strategically do advocacy and influence decision makers in youth policy. Experiences from the European stage are shared, and we hope you’re ready to get involved, discuss and take action!

Objectives

1. Participants gain more insight in what youth policy entails, advocacy at local & national level and why it is relevant
2. Participants explore what Scouting and Guiding should advocate for, share experiences and best-practices from different countries
3. Participants get a better idea of what the European volunteers do and how they can support NSOs/NSAs in their external relations work
4. Participants experiment to develop an advocacy campaign strategy on their own case, and collectively reflect on these strategies.

Target Audience

This workshop is especially relevant to those participants that are working on external relations within their NSOs or are interested in the subject. To join the workshop no prior experience is necessary, however a good mix of people more and less experienced in external relations will benefit the exchanges during the session.
