Be the Change! Develop your advocacy skills and discover a new advocacy programme
Advocacy is for everyone! This session will bust some longstanding myths and misconceptions around advocacy, and give you the building blocks you can use to plan and run your own advocacy projects with children and young people. The session will be based around WAGGGS’ new Action on Body Confidence programme, which aims to teach advocacy skills through the subject of body confidence and self-esteem. It’s a major issue of concern that resonates with scouts and guides across the world, and one that many know well from the popular Free Being Me programme. You’ll explore key advocacy skills including surveying opinions, identifying issues and decision makers, project planning, influencing, and evaluation. Our experiential, fun session will encourage ideas sharing and network building.
Target audience:Those new to advocacy work or wanting to create/develop new advocacy projects in their MO/NSO.
Facilitator: Rosalynd Old
